Prevention and control of healthcare-related infections in surgery

Multi-Corporate Document

Healthcare-related infections (HAIs) pose a serious threat to public health in our country and in the world. The phenomenon of HAIs goes hand in hand with that of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The consequences that HAIs and AMR have on public health can and must be contained with prevention and control actions, which must be a real priority for all health systems in the world at all levels of care.
If we consider that HAIs have a European prevalence of 6.5% (2016-2017) and Italian prevalence of 8% (2016-2017) it is easy to understand the strong repercussions that they can have on the National Health System
