Palermo, Nov. 4. (Adnkronos Salute) — After 12 years, pediatric cardiac surgery returns to Palermo thanks to an alliance between two prestigious health facilities in Northern and Southern Italy. It was signed this morning at Palazzo d’Orléans, in Palermo, in the presence of the president of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, and the vice president of the San Donato group and president of Gksd Investment Holding, Kamel Ghribi, the contract for the three-year assignment, with possible renewal of 24 months, of the medical, nursing and specialist medical advice service to the new complex operating unit of pediatric cardiac surgery of Arnas Civico-Di Cristina-Benfratelli.With a public tender, Arnas awarded the service to the Policlinico San Donato in Milan, for a total three-year amount of 8,085,000 million euros plus VAT, in addition to 320 thousand euros of annual flat-rate reimbursement.
The contract was signed by the general director of Arnas Civico, Roberto Colletti, and the managing director of Policlinico San Donato, Sara Mariani. Present, among others, also the secretary general of the Presidency of the Region, Maria Mattarella, and the head of the new department, Alessandro Giamberti. «This is an innovative partnership — said President Schifani — an integrated marriage between public and private to activate a circuit of healthcare excellence on the extremely sensitive issue of pediatric care. This agreement is important for us because, after twelve years without a pediatric cardiac surgery department, it will be possible for our young patients not to have to resort to the care of hospitals in the North.We aim to become a reference centre for the South».
