Rome, 27 Oct. (Adnkronos Health) — To beat health inequality, one of the tools to be adopted is «to focus on national, supra-regional, assistance networks that allow professionals to be available in all areas of the country. And thus reduce the mobility of citizens who are forced to move because centres of excellence are not everywhere. It should be exactly the opposite: it should be the specialized professionals who reach the different areas».This is the ‘suggestion’ of Filippo Anelli, president of the National Federation of the Orders of Surgeons and Dentists (Fnomceo), to the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni who yesterday, among the Government’s programmatic guidelines, indicated the need to reduce health inequalities.
«It is an important objective — reiterates Anelli to Adnkronos Salute — to make sure that specialized professionals move towards the different areas, because this really reduces inequalities. In fact, if a citizen of Calabria needs neurosurgery, and in our country there is only one surgeon specialized in that type of operation and is from Milan, it is more logical, in a network vision, that it is the surgeon to go to Catanzaro to operate. This also increases the skills of doctors in the area, because an important exchange is developing».
